BMI Group Invests in Safer Manual Handling with the 2Tip Wheelbarrow from Safety Handles

We are delighted to announce that BMI Group Coventry has recently invested in 2Tip Wheelbarrows from iTip Safety Handles, reinforcing its commitment to safer manual handling and improved employee wellbeing.
Designed specifically for demanding construction, manufacturing and industrial environments, the 2Tip Wheelbarrow is far more than a traditional wheelbarrow. It has been engineered to reduce musculoskeletal (MSK) strain, improve handling and increase the service life of one of the most commonly used pieces of site equipment.
Solving One of Construction's Most Common Manual Handling Challenges
One of the most frequent causes of strain when using a wheelbarrow occurs during the "muck away" process.
When a heavily loaded wheelbarrow needs to be emptied into a low-sided skip, truck or trailer, it is common for two operatives to lift the load together. Traditionally, the operator at the rear lifts using the wheelbarrow handles, while the second person is left trying to grip underneath the pan or around the frame near the wheel. This awkward lifting position often forces the wrists into unnatural angles while placing significant stress on the back, shoulders and arms.
The 2Tip Wheelbarrow has been developed to eliminate this problem.

Purpose Designed for Two-Person Lifting
The innovative 2Tip design incorporates two sets of ezTip Safety Handles.
- One ergonomic handle set is positioned at the traditional rear lifting point.
- A second ergonomic handle set is fitted at the nose of the wheelbarrow, adjacent to the wheel.
This gives both operatives secure, comfortable lifting positions, allowing the load to be shared more evenly while maintaining a natural wrist posture throughout the lift.
By providing dedicated lifting points at both ends of the wheelbarrow, the 2Tip system helps reduce the risk of musculoskeletal injuries associated with awkward two-person lifts.
Developed in collaboration with local authorities and the highways industry, the design addresses a real-world manual handling challenge faced daily by construction and maintenance teams.

Built to Last
As well as improving operator safety, the 2Tip Wheelbarrow has been engineered for durability.
Each wheelbarrow features:
- Reinforced strengthening underneath the pan to withstand demanding site use.
- High-quality pneumatic tyres for improved stability and smoother movement over rough ground.
- Ergonomic ezTip Safety Handles positioned for both single and two-person operation.
- A heavy-duty construction designed to maximise service life and reduce replacement costs.
This combination delivers a wheelbarrow that is not only safer to use but also capable of standing up to the rigours of everyday commercial use.

Supporting Better Manual Handling
Musculoskeletal disorders remain one of the leading causes of lost working time across the construction sector. While training is essential, improving the equipment itself can make a significant difference to reducing risk.
The 2Tip Wheelbarrow demonstrates how thoughtful ergonomic design can improve both safety and productivity. By enabling safer lifting techniques and providing operators with proper handholds exactly where they are needed, organisations can help reduce fatigue while promoting better manual handling practices.
Thank You to BMI Group Coventry
We are proud that BMI Group Coventry has chosen the 2Tip Wheelbarrow from iTip Safety Handles as part of its ongoing investment in safer working practices.
We look forward to supporting the team and continuing to work with organisations across construction, manufacturing, highways, logistics and facilities management to develop practical ergonomic solutions that protect people while improving operational efficiency.
If your organisation regularly undertakes wheelbarrow work, muck-away operations or other manual handling tasks, we'd be pleased to discuss how the 2Tip Wheelbarrow and the wider range of iTip Safety Handles products can help reduce risk and improve workplace ergonomics.
