About Safety Handles
Where It All Started
iTip Safety Handles didn't begin in a garden — it began in a glass business.
The founder runs a glass company, and like many trades, the end of the working day meant clearing shards of glass from the vans in to a wheelbarrow. It was a routine task, but a genuinely hazardous one. Looking at how to make that safer — and thinking seriously about ISO standards and the duty of care owed to the team — led to a broader question: where else are people handling things and need a safer grip. A smarter interface between person and load. Something that could reduce risk to backs, wrists and hands without slowing anyone down.

That thinking sparked the development of iTip Safety Handles.
From Glass to the Safety Community
Taking Safety Handles to health and safety trade shows was a turning point. Time and again, specialist safety advisors would visit the stand, see the product, and immediately make the connection:
"Have you thought about Roll Cages? They are designed for moving product not humans. That could be brilliant for reducing injuries, broken toes and dislocated fingers, tip overs and MSK issues."
Musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) are one of the leading causes of workplace injury in the UK, and manual handling — pushing, pulling, gripping — is a major contributor. The feedback from safety professionals was consistent and compelling: a better handle could make a real difference to workers' long-term health.
That's how Safety Handles moved from an internal safety solution into a product with a much wider purpose.
Our Mission
We believe that good design should make everyday tasks safer and more accessible. Whether you're moving garden waste, cement, or compost, you shouldn't have to risk injury to get the job done. iTip Safety Handles exist to reduce that risk — practically, affordably, and without fuss.
We work with domestic customers, commercial operators, and organisations who share our commitment to safety. Our products are built to last and designed with real-world use in mind.
As Seen On
Buy It Now! — Channel 4 & Netflix
iTip Safety Handles appeared on Buy It Now! — the Channel 4 and Netflix show where entrepreneurs pitch innovative products to a panel of consumers and investors. It was a fantastic platform to bring our safety handle story to a wider audience and demonstrate what Safety Handles can do in the real world. The product was the last pitch on the last program of the only series! It went down really well with both the audience and the industry buyers.

BBC DIY SOS Show
We were proud to supply the BBC DIY SOS program with iTip Safety Handles for wheelbarrows — one of the UK's most celebrated programs. It was a fantastic opportunity to demonstrate Safety Handles and hear directly from the people who could benefit most from safer, more ergonomic equipment.
GIMA Finalist
We were honoured to be named a finalist at the Garden Industry Manufacturers Association (GIMA) Awards — one of the most respected accolades in the UK garden industry. Being recognised alongside leading manufacturers and innovators was a proud moment for the whole team.
Wheelie Safe® — Born from an NHS Partnership
Our Wheelie Safe® product has a very specific origin story. Following persistent requests from an NHS Trust for a safer way to handle wheelie bins, we developed and patented a dedicated safety handle for this task.
Repositioning wheelie bins after emptying is a routine job — but it carries real risks. The front lip of a bin can develop sharp nicks and burrs from the collection process, and contact with bin contents exposes workers to serious health hazards including Weil's disease, hepatitis A, and other pathogens. Standard disposable gloves offer limited protection.
Wheelie Safe® was designed to address exactly this problem: a robust, patented handle that keeps hands away from contaminated surfaces and sharp edges. It's now used by waste management teams, local authorities, and commercial operators across the UK.

Supporting the Community
We're proud to work with organisations that share our values around accessibility and inclusion. Our partnership with the Gardening for Disabled Trust reflects our belief that gardening should be available to everyone — regardless of mobility or physical ability. iTip Safety Handles can make a real difference for those who might otherwise struggle with standard equipment.
Working with Industry
We've had the pleasure of visiting and working with some of the UK's leading companies including Octopus Energy — companies with genuine interest in how Safety Handles can improve their product ranges. Whether it's moving cement on a building site or garden waste at home, the feedback from industry has been clear: Safety handles make a real difference.
