Wheelie Safe® ready for the new business recycling laws, Health & Safety Event 25 NEC

Introducing Wheelie Safe: A Breakthrough in Bin Safety Handling

For the first time, we showcased the highly anticipated Wheelie Safe  – our innovative clip-on Safety Handles designed specifically for industrial and domestic bins. These handles help protect workers from scratches, cuts, and exposure to unpleasant "bin juice" — the fetid liquid that can accumulate on refuse bins.

Wheelie Safe®, Lots of interest from many different industry sectors

As always, iTip Safety Handles stood out from the crowd at one of the largest Health and Safety Events at the NEC. David Dyer, Group SHEF Officer at BPW Ltd — Europe’s leading manufacturer of axle and suspension systems — remarked whilst on the stand:

“It’s the best thing in the show by a mile.”

Throughout the event, we were overwhelmed by the number of returning customers who approached us to share how iTip Safety Handles have significantly improved workplace health and fitness for their teams. Many specifically highlighted the reduction in musculoskeletal issues thanks to these tipping aids.

Ashley from the amazing American Museum and Gardens in Bath talked about how much they rate the safety benefits of iTip Safety Handles and are interested in Wheelie Safe.

One visitor even shared that he had first encountered iTip Safety Handles during a Health & Safety Executive (HSE) manual handling course, where they were featured as a best-practice solution attached to a roll cage.

Visitors from a wide range of sectors — including retail, medical, construction, motorway maintenance, equestrian, and landscaping — expressed enthusiasm for the versatility and practicality of iTip Safety Handles. Of particular note was the widespread interest in Wheelie Safe, which resonated strongly across industries. With rising health and safety standards, it’s clear that safe bin handling is becoming a business priority.

Protect your team using ergonomics, from musculoskeletal disorders (MSK) as well potential risks of disease and cuts from handling bins.

This interest is only set to grow. New waste separation regulations in England came into force on March 31, 2025, requiring all businesses with 10 or more employees to separate waste into four streams: dry recyclables, food waste, paper/card, and residual waste. Smaller businesses must comply by 2027. These changes aim to improve recycling rates and reduce landfill waste — but they also increase the operational demands and dangers on employees when it comes to waste handling. More information on the new laws here.

Examples of the issues with bin juice and damage to the waste bins highlight's danger for staff. Notice the damage and abrasions on the edge of the bin and the accumulated bin juice stains? These bins were seen during our trip.

That’s where Wheelie Safe comes in — offering a simple, effective way to reduce injury risk for colleagues and removing the need to touch the bin, whilst helping businesses stay compliant. Click here for more information
